Mobile Baseband

The Mobile baseband processor converts data to a signal that can be used to modulate the carrier frequency for transmission and vice versa. That signal is handed off to the RF processor, which may also be part of the baseband chip.

Baseband vulnerabilities give attackers the ability to monitor a phone’s communications, place calls, send premium SMS messages or cause large data transfers unbeknownst to the owner of the phone, based on higher tiered device permissions.
